Linda Lee: Our first recording was a 45 with “Killer Bees” and “Shoeshine Boy,” and I think it was done at a nine-track studio. There was nothing to it. I just remember hearing it and thinking it was phenomenal. I couldn’t figure out how my arms could move that quickly. We really got good.

Gerard Pas: “Shoeshine Boy” was not only expressive and full of energy, it had a social phenomenon. It was talking about something that was applicable to anyone in Toronto who walked down Yonge Street and saw what the fuck was going on there.

What was not to like about that? It was everything I wanted in music. It was vital and it was true and it was speaking about something in our society, as opposed to just sort of being in a trance. So for that reason alone I realized what they were doing was of critical importance to our community in Toronto, and subsequently in Canada at the time.
